PRRSUM Committee Positions

Technical Committee

The technical committee is in charge of developing the UMSRS technical program and technical content of other PRRSUM initiatives. Members must regularly participate in a monthly 30-minute conference call to check in on initiatives and tasks

Committee Tasks:
a.  Invited Speaker search (May-August, 3-5 hours total)
b.  Reviewing and Ranking submitted Oral and Poster Abstracts (September-October, 10-15 hours)
c. Panel discussion organization (September – November, 5 hours total)
d. Short course organization (identifying 2-3 short courses to host at UMSRS) (June-November, 10 hours total)
e. Serve as a moderator for a future UMSRS technical session (next UMSRS, 1-2 hours total)        

Marketing Committee

The marketing committee is dedicated to spreading the word about PRRSUM as an organization and building a more engaged and vibrant community. Members must regularly participate in a monthly 30-minute conference call to check in on initiatives and tasks.

General Initiatives:

a. Identify and implement strategies to help grow PRRSUM’s reach and network (year-round, 10-15 hrs total).
b. Identify and target potential sponsors to support the UMSRS (year-round, 10-15 hours total)

Conference Chair

The conference chair is the main point of contact for the technical and marketing committees. Ideally, the conference chair is located near the upcoming year conference location. The conference chair will work with the Erosion Program on all conference details.

Conference Chair and Executive Committee Tasks:
a.  Assist with organization and schedule of all other committees (March-February, 1-2 hours total)
b.  Participate in other committees and lead where chair is unavailable (March - February, 15-20 hours)
c. Provide final review of all decisions and items developed by committees (September – February, 5 hours total)
d. Provide overall direction of UMSRS event (March-November, 2 hours total)
e. Assist with coordination and selection of venues (2-4 hours total)
